Frequently Asked Questions
How much will a workshop cost?
GLASS FUSING: Please see the Glass Fusing Workshops page for prices as the cost varies depending on the length of the workshop and what is being made. For some workshops you may be able to use specialist glass pieces and these will incur a small additional cost; Trisha will of course let you know about this before you use 147 pieces of it!
The kiln firing process takes place after the workshop and this is included in the price.
WET FELTING: Please see the Wet Felting Workshops page for prices as the cost varies depending on the length of the workshop.
Are your workshops suitable for beginners and /or more experienced crafters?
GLASS FUSING: Yes, both – depending on the nature of the session. If you have never attended a glass fusing workshop before, then Trisha willl spend time with you at the start of the session, showing you how to cut the glass safely. At our standard workshops, you can choose to follow a specific design or design theme or ‘do your own thing’ – all with assistance from Trisha when required.
The number of pieces that can be made at a workshop varies between each person depending on the complexity of design, speed of working and the amount of cutting required. If it is your first workshop you’ll need some time to get used to the glass-cutting process so you might find it takes longer to finish a design.
If you are experienced in glass fusing techniques you may prefer to book an ‘Exploration Workshop’ where you can give your creativity full rein with minimal assistance.
WET FELTING: Workshops are suitable for both beginners and those with more experience. However, if you have never wet felted before, please be aware that the process can be quite physical and so may be difficult for anyone with weakness in their shoulders, elbows, wrists or hands; if this applies to you, please discuss with Trisha before booking a workshop.
Do you run workshops for children?
GLASS FUSING: Yes – these are 2 hour sessions, for children and young people aged 5 to 17. Children/young people must be accompanied throughout by an adult (one adult to one child/young person), and the maximum we can accommodate per workshop is 1 adult and 1 child/young person. If the accompanying adult wishes to do some glass fusing as well, he/she must pay the appropriate fee. Please visit our Glass Fusing Workshops page for more details.
WET FELTING: though we haven’t yet run any wet felting workshops with children, it would be perfectly possible to run a 2 hour session making a simplified version. A children/young person under 18 must be accompanied throughout by an adult.x If your child is interested in wet felting, please contact us for further information.
How do I book a bespoke workshop?
Contact Trisha for a detailed discussion, so that she can assess the feasibility of what you have in mind, order in any materials that may be required and discuss potential dates.

How do I make payment?
To secure your workshop place, we require a 25% deposit by BACS transfer; details will be sent to you by email.
The balance is payable on the morning of the workshop, preferably via BACS, though you may also pay the balance in cash.
Some glass materials are very expensive to buy in, so if you wish to use such pieces in your creation a small extra charge for these (payable in cash) will be made on the day.
Please note that no glass items will be made available for collection until full payment has been received.
Gift Vouchers for our workshops are available - why not give someone you love a special treat or original birthday gift? Vouchers are available from £10 upwards, in multiples of £5, or you can buy a voucher for a whole workshop session - either half-day or full day. Please contact us to request a voucher.
What is your cancellation policy?
The 25% deposit paid to secure a workshop is only refundable (less a £5 administration fee) if your place can be filled by another person.
If you are unwell on the morning of the workshop (or the evening before), please contact Trisha so that your workshop can be rearranged. Please do not bring infection to the workshop by attending if you are ill. This particularly applies if you are experiencing any Covid-19 symptoms.
Should we have to cancel for any reason, you will of course receive a full refund of your deposit.
Please also see our Terms & Conditions.
Can I choose what to make at a workshop, or will I be following instruction to make a specific design?
GLASS FUSING: This depends on what type of workshop you have booked. We run workshops where you can make a specific design – though each design will be still unique (see below), as glass fusing is never an exact science because individual pieces of glass are rarely identical, and glass can react in different ways when it is fired. You can also book a workshop where you work on a design following a specific theme, or you might prefer to let your imagination run wild on a project of your own!
Bear in mind that designs seen on other websites may have been created by professional artists and so may be too complicated to recreate at our workshops – Trisha will advise.
WET FELTING: You will be able to follow a design of your own choosing, following a set step-by-step process.
Will my creation look exactly like the example I may be following?
GLASS FUSING: No - your creation will be unique because glass fusing is not an exact science. Individual pieces of glass are rarely identical, so it depends on what pieces you select and how you cut and position them. In addition, glass can react in different (and sometimes unexpected!) ways when it is fired - see an example of this in the photos below. Also, bear in mind that many of the examples you might find on other websites will have been created by professional artists or experienced practitioners. But rest assured, even if you’ve had no experience of glass fusing before, you will still be able to create beautiful and satisfying art works!
If disaster strikes and your glass moves significantly during firing, with the result that your Mona Lisa emerges looking more like one of Picasso’s rejects, then Trisha will endeavour to re-create your work free of charge by referring to the photo she will have taken of your work prior to firing. If you are not happy with the end result, you may have your money back, less your 25% deposit.
WET FELTING: all Wet Felting creations are unique because of variations in the wool and in how the fibres knit together once agitated.
Will I be able to take my creation away with me on the day?
Your glass creations need to go into the glass kiln for fusing, so these will be ready for collection at a later date – usually around 7 to 10 days after the workshop.
We can post your glass items to you for a small fee.
Wet Felting creations can be taken home with you on the day – please bring a waterproof bag/container as your creation will still be damp.
Can wet felted items be further embellished?
Yes - once your fabric creation has been washed and dried, you can add detail and enhancements using needle felt, beads and embroidery.
Is there anything I need to bring with me to a workshop?
GLASS FUSING: Please bring any photos or pictures of examples you wish to follow, plus a little cash in case you decide to use some specialist glass in your creations. Also please make sure you are wearing closed-toe shoes, are able to tie back long hair, and are not wearing jewellery or long dangly sleeves that may get caught up in glass shards.
WET FELTING: Please bring any photos or pictures of examples you wish to follow, an apron and a waterproof bag or container in which to take your creation home, as it will still be damp.
Do you provide refreshments / lunch?
Tea, coffee and cold drinks will be available.
If you have booked an all-day workshop, there will be a break for lunch, but please bring your own lunch with you.
Where are you located?
Our workshop is in Melton Mowbray, Leicestershire, LE13 0BQ, UK.
